Scrutiny Improvement

The Scottish Government announced in January 2008 that it will work with the Parliament and stakeholders, including local governement, to make improvements in scrutiny and complaints handling.

These improvements are mostly in response to the report published by Professor Lorne Crerar into regulation, audit, inspection and complaints handling of public services in Scotland (the Crerar Review).

To take improvement forward, a Scrutiny Improvement Team is supporting the work of 5 action groups, which will be overseen by a Programme Board, as well as the work being done by directorates on structural reform.
